2nd Assignment : Real Environment " Ooo, Our Obelisk! "

Intention

To design something that attract people to see the nature in a better way. Some said " the green nature is better when there is present of white ". Build an obelisk was a good intention for that purpose. Besides, our company motto's " Greening The Future " had represent our intention when doing this assignment.

 

Actor

There are some actors that involved either intentionally and unintentionally during the process of making this obelisk. Its include 5 members of our company, Hijau Budi Consultant Company which are :

• Faiz Fuad  ( Construction Manager )
• Ahmad Hadri Husain  ( Building Technologist )
• Mohd Ikhwan Felani Noorizan  ( Architect )
• Khairul Hilmi Mohd Azizi  ( Landscape Architect )
• Syafizal Shahruddin  ( Senior Architect )

      

 

Each of us had different responsibilities and tasks to do during the process that suit our specialties. Besides, the other actor that helped us in accomplished the task were our supplier. Most of the materials were provided from the construction site. The manager of the site was kindly gives us all the materials that already unused by them. Not forget also the developers who helped us locating the site.

Most importantly, our design will not giving any harm or dangerous to the environment.

 

Rule

The obelisk must followed all these specific criteria when designing…

 (a)    must in solid structure

(b)   white in colour

(c)    the dimension          : base 500 × 500mm

                     overall height 3000mm

(d)   can be carryable by 5 peoples

(e)    can assembled within 20 minutes

(f)     zero cost

(g)    recyclable

Furthermore, at the site we must placed the obelisk according to the given number and position around USM area. Each obelisk will have its own site.

 

Site

For our company, Hijau Budi, we were needed to place our obelisk near the main road which beside the site was CIMB bank and Mahasiswa store. So, it was a place where people can see clearly the obelisk when they pass through along the site. We were being informed that, the road near the site was regularly used by the student to go to their class or to the bus stand. So it’s the best place to show our design to the public. In front of the site was a round-a-board. The driver can see the obelisk when they take turn. From our observation we had placed the obelisk according to the specific and in the right angle which also considered the geometrical and symmetrical of the site to the context. Luckily, the green tall trees and plant around the site had make the environment more appealed. It like we were creating something from nothing on the site.

 

Product

Our product is the obelisk itself. It was made up from various recyclable materials like steel, mounting board and a piece of wood.

6 Elements of Production..

intention  : ( why? based on purpose, information and objective. )

to build a house that can reduce the waste by using recyclable materials.

it will be myself, Mohd Ikhwan Felani b Noorizan and others engineer who will plan the construction.     

 act : ( how? the way the product been done or create )

firstly, I will collect the data by experimenting the materials that going to be used during construction. Then, I will search for the source of our materials like recycle bottles and the

bamboos. 

  rule : ( know the right and wrong about local law, the global, climate and everything that involved ) 

the dimensions and scale of the building must be accurate.

  product : ( what? something that being build or design to used by others )

a house with many recyclable and harmless material.

  site : (where? can be anywhere which are maybe in hot,cold,sea,land,low or high area )

near the town so that people can see it and begin to realize the important of                         protecting the Earth.

Production of Contruction

Built environment and human settlement are involving the nature and human as the company of this world. Both of the creatures always connect to one another. Man need plants to survive as their food and at the same time, man have to protect the plants rather than trying to destroy them. Its like we should 'dance' with the nature. The word 'dance' refer to we should care about nature eventhough we manipulate them for our goods. Instead of considering toward the nature, the relationship among humans also important.

   The idea is to design a building that 80 per cent of the material are made of recyclable things like glass bottles and something that give harmless effect towards our Earth.

First and foremost, I will design the building like a bungalow with the wall is made up from bamboos. As we all knows, the traditional people believes that bamboos can be to cool down the heat that trap inside the house by absorbing it. So, I want to apply that concept to my new product. It almost like air-conditioner in modern era.

Besides bamboos, I also will decorate at certain walls with the recycle bottles. It will looks more beutiful and artistic if we can collect the bottles in various colour.

Then, I will used some panel solars to be the rooftops. Panel solars can provides the electricity for the whole building without depend on the Tenaga Nasional Berhad ( TNB ). It can converts the heat energy into electricity energy without emitting dangerous energy to the atmostphere. It also a method to get a free electricity because the source of the energy ( UV light ) is from the Sun. We do not have to pay for that. But the problem is, when the night come, the solars cannot be used anymore because no light emits. So, to solve this problem, we can connect the solars to a rechargeable battery which is store the energy that enough for the whole night lasting.
